Our History In 1961 Winnie (Wynn) Walton, great granddaughter to Randolph Huntington, married the oil tycoon and business man, Thomas Oakleigh. Thomas was a big player in the Sport of Kings, and Winnie came from 3 generations of Arabian Horse breeders. Soon after marriage, Wynn and Tommie would move to his Texas estate, and Wynn spent much of the following years traveling the world playing Polo and attending Horse Races.
In the 1971, Wynn was part of an international group of Arabian breeders heading to Russia and look at their stud. There she would fall in love with Russia, and traveled all over, being invited to different Studs and racetracks, and of course playing Polo. She loved it so much, that her two week stay became a 5 month journey. |
She fell in love with the diverse horse culture, meeting with breeders of Akhal Tekes, Tersks, and the Orlov–Rostopchin. Reluctantly, she returned home, but not empty handed! As a result of the history between Russia and America, it was hard to get imported goods, let alone horses, and Wynn had to arrange for 5 horses to stay in Poland for 3 years before she could import them in 1974.
Soon after, she would out grow their Texas ranch, which primarily bred and trained Quarter horse and Thoroughbred Racers. Wynn was a frequent flyer to Palm Beach, Florida during Polo season. And in 1979, she convinced her husband they were going to buy land in the newly developing area of Wellington. "I needed the space! His race horses were taking up too much room." - Wynn Oakleigh |
"I had to bribe her with horses to get her to come back home."- Tommie Oakleigh Russian bred Tersk, ready for a Polo match

Sadea Oakleigh Born in 1993, Sadea was riding in her first show at the age 3. By the time she was 10, her walls and shelves were filled with trophies and ribbons from all over the East Coast. Sadea had the opportunity to travel the world with her parents. And really took to Polo and Show Jumping like her mother, instead of Racing like her father. When Sadea turned 15, she asked her mother for dressage lessons, and
